The fine print, kept short

Privacy policy

Last updated 14 October 2026 · applies to the game from version 0.26.0, and to this website

In short

  • No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The game does not phone home.
  • Your progress, profiles and settings stay on your computer. We never receive them.
  • Only when you open ONLINE does the game talk to Epic Online Services, with an anonymous ID, to find a match and connect you to the other players.
  • Other players never see your IP address: all online traffic goes through Epic's relay servers.
  • Questions or requests: gaming@flotech.be.

Who we are

Ultimate Speed Race is made and published by Flotech BV, a company in Belgium (company number BE 0804.694.578). For the data described below we are the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach us at gaming@flotech.be.

On your computer

Everything you do offline, on the couch or alone, stays on your own computer. The game keeps these files in its own folder (on Windows: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Ultimate Speed Race). Nothing in them is sent anywhere, and you can delete them at any time.

WhatWhat is in it
SettingsLanguage, sound, video, controls, accessibility options and key bindings.
ProgressStars, best times, unlocked cars and the car each seat drives.
ProfilesThe names you type for players on this computer (up to 12 letters), the controller each one used last, and a random ID.
Race statisticsA log of your races and sessions, for the stats screens and TONIGHT. Other online players appear only as a number, never by name or ID.
PicturesA picture of a TONIGHT screen, only when you press SAVE PICTURE.
LogsError and crash logs, with your graphics card and system name, to help when you report a problem. They are not sent: you decide whether to share them.
Online nameIf you go online without a profile, a random name like RACER-4821, kept so you are the same racer next time.

Playing online

Online play uses Epic Online Services (EOS), run by Epic Games. Epic processes this data for us, as our processor. The game only connects when you open the ONLINE screen; until then nothing is sent.

What is shared, and with whom

DataWhy, and who sees it
An anonymous player IDEOS signs you in with an ID made for this computer (a "Device ID"), not with an account. The game makes a new one every time you go online. Epic and the players in your match see it.
Your online nameThe name of your profile, or a random RACER name. Never the name of your computer and never your real name, unless you type it as a profile name. Epic and the players in your match and party see it.
Match detailsYour rough region (worked out on your computer from its time zone: Europe, North America East, and so on), how many players sit at your screen, the cars you picked, the game version, your party code, and the ping between you and the other players. Used to find a fair match and pick the best host. Epic and the players in the same lobby see it.
Race dataWhere your car is, what you press, and the race state, sent to the other players while you race.
IP addressNeeded to connect at all. All traffic goes through Epic's relay servers, so Epic sees your IP address, the other players do not.
Technical detailsThe EOS software sends Epic basic technical information, such as your operating system, to run the service.

Why we may do this

We process this data because you ask to play online: without it there is no match (GDPR Article 6(1)(b), performance of a contract). Keeping the matches fair and stable is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)).

Outside the EU

Epic Games is based in the United States and may process data there. Those transfers are covered by Epic's data processing terms, which include the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See Epic's privacy policy for how Epic itself handles data.

Buying the game in a store

If you get the game through Steam or the Epic Games Store, that store's own privacy policy applies to your account and purchase. We do not receive your store account details. When the game later lets you sign in with Steam or Epic for online play, we will update this policy before that version comes out.

What we never do

  • No advertising, and no advertising IDs.
  • No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting that sends anything on its own.
  • No selling or sharing of data with anyone beyond Epic, for online play.
  • No voice chat, no text chat and no friend lists in this version.

How long

Lobbies and parties disappear when the match or party ends. The anonymous player ID is new every time you go online, so we cannot connect it to you afterwards. Epic keeps service data as long as its own policy describes. What is on your computer stays until you delete it.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Because we never receive your offline data and online IDs are anonymous and renewed every time, we usually hold nothing that we can link to you. Write to gaming@flotech.be anyway, and we will help as far as we can, also with requests to Epic.

You may also complain to a data protection authority. In Belgium that is the Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).

Children

The game is made for everyone. We do not knowingly collect data from children beyond what is described here for online play. If you are under 13, ask a parent before playing online.

This website

This website sets no cookies and uses no trackers or outside services: the fonts and images come from this site itself. The server that hosts it may keep standard access logs (such as IP addresses) for security, as described by the host.

Changes

When the game starts handling data differently, we change this page first and update the date at the top.
